Choosing the Right 1500–1800°C Heat-Resistant Fabric: A Technical Guide

High-Temperature Fabrics for 1500–1800°C

For continuous use in air at 1500–1800°C, ceramic fiber fabric (alumina-silicate based) is the only practical choice. It can withstand up to 1400–1600°C continuously, with 1800°C as a short-term peak limit.

Carbon fiber fabric is not suitable for air applications. It oxidizes and burns above 400°C in oxygen. Its high-temperature rating (1500–2000°C) applies only to inert atmospheres or vacuum.

High-silica fiber fabric softens at 1700°C but cannot be used continuously above 1200°C. Above this temperature, it becomes brittle and loses strength.
