Do you know the performance principle of glass fiber PU coated cloth?

Glass fiber PU coated cloth is based on glass fiber cloth. After a special coating process, it is coated with corresponding chemical raw materials to make it have specific uses, such as petroleum, chemical, cement, energy and other fields.

Coated cloth processing technology includes dry method, wet method, hot melt method, transfer method, bonding method and other methods, of which the dry method is the most used. The dry method is to evenly coat the coating slurry on the base fabric with an applicator. After heating to volatilize the solvent or water, the coating forms a film on the surface of the fabric. The thin PU coating is a high-grade product in the direct dry coating process, which is mainly used for clothing fabrics.

PU coating cloth agent is a block polymer composed of two parts of soft segment and hard segment repeatedly alternating. The soft segment makes PU soft and elastic. It is composed of polyether or polyester glycol. Its molecular weight can also affect the softness and hardness of PU. The hard segment makes PU have strength and elastic modulus. It is composed of various diisocyanates. And chain extender composition. The ratio of the two and the type and structure of raw materials can determine and affect the performance of the product.

PU coated cloth is divided into its coating form, which can be divided into water-based and solvent-based polyurethane in simple terms. Solvent-based film-forming performance is good, strong adhesion to fabrics, high water pressure resistance, and more suitable for waterproof and moisture-permeable coatings. However, the solvent type is toxic and flammable, not environmentally friendly, and the water-based type is safe and non-toxic, and is environmentally friendly, but it has poor adhesion to the fabric and has weaker water pressure resistance than the solvent type.

Furthermore, PU is actually polyurethane. Its performance is mainly abrasion resistance, solvent resistance and low temperature resistance (below -30°C), good waterproof and moisture permeability, windproof, softness and other characteristics. Generally, it is milky white emulsion, which can be combined with knitted fabrics and flat fabrics. Woven fabrics, non-woven fabrics and other fabrics are combined into various fabrics or linings, and can be combined with various films with different characteristics in two or more layers. We usually come into contact with thin-coated PU leather products, which are mainly used for PU coating of outdoor clothing and bag fabrics. For example, products such as imitation leather (artificial leather), brushed suede and other products are also PU coating products. Polyurethane PU coating can form many multifunctional, high value-added textile products, which are widely used in clothing, decoration, military and other industries.

PU (polyurethane) coated fabric is fiberglass cloth coated with PU (polyurethane) on the surface. Compared with basic fiberglass cloth, it features good abrasive resistance, waterproof, allergen resistance, high strength, high-temperature resistance, good flame retardant ability, and good chemical resistance. Suntex can provide one side and double side polyurethane coated fabric with different thicknesses, colors, and widths.

Main Applications:

--fire blankets, welding blankets
--fire doors & fire curtains, smoke curtains
--removable insulation cover/jacket,general insulation wrapping
--expansion joints
--fabric air distribution ducts
--fabric ductwork connector
--other fire and smoke control systems

The synthesis method of glass fiber PU coated cloth is generally made by diisocyanate, polyester diol or polyether diol plus chain extender and catalyst, through solution polymerization or bulk polymerization. For more information, please follow Suntex.
